Palisades Park NJ Pursuit/Accident

Palisades Park, NJ, Bergen County (in the vicinity of the George Washington Bridge) At approximately 1015 Hrs. EST, Palisades Park Police in pursuit of a violator resulted in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Broad Ave. and Central Blvd.. The accident involving a "church bus" from a local Korean Church fully occupied with parishoners. Numerous injuries were reported at the scene and at least one death.

Initial reports state that the chase was started with Englewood, NJ, Police, who reported that the pursued vehicle, a commercial food van, was stolen in their jurisdiction. It is unknown if the Englewood Police chased the wanted vehicle into Palisades Park, or if Palisades Park attempted to stop the vehicle based on a raidioed discription. The stolen van crashed head-on into the church van and then into another civilian vehicle. Both vans then careened into a wall of a building near the Palisades Police Headquaters.

The Bergen County Prosecutors Office, assisted by the County Sheriff's Crime Scene Unit are investigating the entire incident.
