NEW JERSEY POLICE OFFICER DIES FROM INJURIES


Motor Vehicle Accident During Pursuit

Police Officer Thomas Haughton of the Garwood, NJ, Police Department, died today, Friday, November 24, from injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident while in pursuit of another vehicle. The accident occurred in the adjacent town of Westfield on Tuesday (11/21/95) of this week at approximately 22:30 hrs. EST.

The 27 year old officer was reportedly chasing another vehicle for a broken tail light violation. The damage to the police vehicle was reported to be extensive. Haughton's major injuries were reported to be to his head as a result of being thrown from the vehicle. Officer Haughton was a Garwood Police Officer for two and a half years. ENN sends its condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Officer Haughton.
