BUFFALO CREEK, COLORADO (ENN) - A wildfire in the Pike National Forest, located about 30 miles southeast of Denver, is said to be a little less than 50 percent contained. The blaze has burned between 10,000 and 11,000 acres and twelve structures, including two homes. The fast-moving fire started on Saturday.

On Sunday night, most of the 600 firefighters from four states were pulled off the fire lines to rest. Calm winds, cloudy skies, and cooler temperatures helped the efforts of firefighters. The same type of weather was forecast for Monday. A fire operations chief said, "We're anticipating a little cooperation from Mother Nature." It is not known when the wildfire will be brought fully under control.
