By James J. Fay

Deputy Chief Michael Rice of NYC*EMS is in very serious condition in New York City's Jamaica Hospilal, as a result of injuries sustained from a one-car automobile accident while enroute to John F. Kennedy International Airport. Rice, 43, was responding to a fire reported on-board an incoming plane to JFK.

The accident occurred on the Cross Island Parkway in the NYC Borough of Queens during the earlier morning hours on Sunday, November 12th, during a heavy rain and wind storm that covered the area during the weekend. Rice's marked EMS vehicle was discovered by another EMS supervisor that was also responding to the airport incident.

Latest reports state that Rice has a fractured skull as well as other injuries.

The fire on board the plane was in a microwave oven, and extinguished by plane personnel.

ENN sends it's prayers and best wishes for Chief Rice and his family.
