Shooting Alert SALT LAKE CITY, UT: According to preliminary Associated Press reports, a gunman entered a shopping mall and began randomly shooting Monday night, hitting several people before he was killed, police said. The incident is thought to have begun at about 18:45 p.m. (local time).

"There have been multiple victims and there are some fatalities. ... I can't confirm the number," police Detective Robin Snyder said outside the Trolley Square Mall. "The suspect has been killed," she said. "We don't know a motive yet," Snyder added.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that as many as five people may have been killed in the incident. Multiple police and ambulance vehicles surrounded the area, as the mall was locked down.
