URGENT: (Anne Arundel County) -- 15:10EDT- 5/8/96

OFF DUTY ANNE ARUNDEL FIREFIGHTER CRITICAL AFTER ACCIDENT

(CROWNSVILLE, MD) An off-duty Anne Arundel County firefighter was seriously injured in car accident at the intersection of Generals Highway and Old Generals Highway in Crownsville this afternoon. It is unkown at this time what company the firefighter is from or whether he is career or volunteer. Three paramedic units and numerous fire and rescue personnel were called oto the scene.

The firefighter was classified as a multi-system Priority One trauma and flown to the Shock Trauma center in Baltimore. A female, also classified as a Priority One multi-system trauma was also flown to Shock Trauma. Two Maryland State Police helicoptors were utilized on the scene. Several other less serious injuries.

The fire chief on the scene requested the county's critical incident/stress team to work with fire and rescue personnel who know the victim. It was unkown whether the firefighter was related to the other serious victim. More information will be updated if available later.
