ERRI Advises Caution Following McVeigh Verdict

Chicago, IL. (ENN) -- Emergency Response & Research Institute (ERRI) analysts have this afternoon issued a special officer safety/security advisory in regard to the possible aftermath of this afternoon's guilty verdict in the Timothy McVeigh trial in Denver, CO.

It is possible that some extremist/militant groups or individuals may feel that McVeigh's actions in Oklahoma City, against the Murrah Federal Building, were justified and that retaliation for his conviction should be forthcoming. Another period of increased danger is likely at, or shortly after, the time of his sentencing.

It is recommended that local, state, and federal facilities should increase their awareness and security levels as deemed appropriate by local authorities, depending on a jurisdictional assessment of threat levels. Individual law enforcement officers should also be aware of possible hostility and aggressive behavior on the part of some individuals who may empathize with the convicted McVeigh.

ERRI will continue to monitor events surrounding the McVeigh case and possible peripheral threats. We will provide additional updates if/when more details become available. Contact ERRI with questions, comments, or suggestions.
